Background

Before founding Champion Resolutions, John Champion qualified as an English lawyer in London, and then practiced as a foreign (English) lawyer in Singapore from 1996 to February 2012. During that period he became recognised as one of the leading foreign lawyers in the region, for dispute resolution in his industry sectors of experience.

John’s time is now almost entirely devoted to acting as arbitrator or mediator in various international commercial disputes.  With around fifty appointments resulting in numerous orders and around a dozen reasoned sole and panel awards being issued to date.

Aside from arbitrating and mediating, on certain cases John may be available to provide independent third party consultancy support in relation to large and complex disputes.  This can include working alongside sophisticated clients, lawyers, and experts from various professional and specialist fields, to develop strategies and implement methodologies maximising the prospects for fast and efficient dispute resolution. In this exercise we are result, rather than process, orientated: our aim is to find the quickest and most efficient route to a satisfactory resolution.

We have also been invited to undertake specialist independent third party review, such as file and claim audit, due diligence, as well as other bespoke advisory services.

Outside of the Champion Resolutions business, since June 2013 John has, where appropriate, offered non Singapore legal advice, through a senior consultancy with Watson Farley & Williams, Asia office.
